Kathmandu Day Tour
Day 1: Kathmandu Valley Day Tour

Morning:

 

1. Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple)

 

  • Start your day early with a visit to Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest and most important religious sites in Kathmandu.

  • Climb the steps to reach the stupa and enjoy panoramic views of the city.

  • Explore the various shrines, temples, and Tibetan monasteries surrounding the stupa.

  • Observe the resident monkeys, giving the temple its nickname, the Monkey Temple.

 

2. Kathmandu Durbar Square

 

  • After Swayambhunath, head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of the city.

  • Explore the intricately carved temples, palaces, and courtyards dating back to the Malla dynasty.

  • Visit the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Taleju Temple, Kumari Ghar (House of the Living Goddess), and other historical landmarks.

 

Lunch Break:

 

Take a break for lunch at one of the many restaurants in the vicinity of Kathmandu Durbar Square. You can try traditional Nepali cuisine or opt for international dishes.

Afternoon:

 

3. Pashupatinath Temple

 

  • After lunch, visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  • Witness the rituals and ceremonies performed by devotees along the banks of the Bagmati River.

  • Explore the temple complex, including the main temple, ghats, and smaller shrines.

 

4. Boudhanath Stupa

 

  • Conclude your day tour with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest stupas in Nepal.

  • Walk around the stupa in a clockwise direction, spinning prayer wheels and observing the rituals of Tibetan Buddhists.

  • Explore the surrounding monasteries, shops selling Tibetan artifacts, and cafes offering a serene atmosphere.

 

Evening:

 

  • As the day comes to an end, return to your hotel or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel for shopping, dining, or enjoying live music.
